At Prep we share an idea with parents, that children should look forward to coming to school and that they will flourish within our caring supportive environment. As your children come to PREP, we will give them security and confidence in our daily activities and help them develop a love of learning. We work closely and efficiently with parents to have your children settle in and become comfortable with PREP and their new environment as quickly as possible.

As the children grow we encourage them to develop a respect for each other, our elders and for the school. Our child-centered methods allow children to develop positive learning attitudes and become self-learners with the motivation and determination to choose their own path in life. We aim to send the children to elementary school with plenty of self confidence, strong communication skills and a real passion for schooling.

A child’s early experiences are critical in shaping how constructively they respond to future learning situations and beyond into their adult lives. At Prep Montessori International Kindergarten, early years learners are placed in a planned and structured learning environment where they can develop a wide range of foundational skills and positive attitudes towards learning, in readiness for elementary schooling.

The school surroundings are a vital part of the children’s learning environment at Prep. In fact, the garden is the most popular play-space in the whole kindergarten. The mature trees and shrubs not only create a natural atmosphere but provide a living classroom for children to play in and for teachers to utilize in delivering lessons and outdoor activities. Prep children are able to engage with nature through their play. The trees are generous in their offerings of fallen leaves, twigs, fruits and flowers, which the children take delight in collecting and using as playthings. Birds and squirrels add motion and sound to the garden, while ants, beetles and butterflies regularly catch the children’s attention. The basic need to take care of nature – the plant life and wildlife – is a key message given to the children as they play and learn in the Prep garden playground.

The open spaces at the center of the garden are wide enough for all manner of big-motor activities – the children love to run and jump there. Part grassy space and part rubber tiles makes the surface good for all seasons. Outdoor play sets and equipment are positioned to promote socializing and to challenge the children physically.
