The government has recognized the necessity of children with special educational needs (SEN) and has supported through several initiatives throughout the emirate.
In Dubai, an estimated 20% of children have special educational needs. Over the last two years, 52 private schools in Dubai have accepted applications from children with special needs.The Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) in Dubai has outlined provisions on special needs children in their Inspection Handbook. The expanded framework now includes a rich curriculum that focuses on improving the progress of children diagnosed with special educational needs.
