XCL World Academy is a school offering the continuum of learning through the International Baccalaureate (IB) and other frameworks of learning. Inspired by a unique mission statement focused on lifelong learning, the IB aims to advance students through the attributes of a defined learner profile. The teaching approach is based on fostering inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who are motivated to succeed. The IB programme gives students distinct advantages by building their critical thinking skills, nurturing their curiosity and their ability to solve complex problems. Students transition through the stages of personal and academic improvement with consistent, coherent teaching experiences.

Our teachers and staff are focused on the intellectual and personal growth of each student. Students are helped to monitor their progress. Teachers scrutinise attainment of learning attainment and provide feedback and positive reinforcement on achievements.

Students learn across disciplines to cultivate independent skills proven to help them through to higher education. In an increasing changing and globalized world students are encouraged to learn to consider both local and global contexts. In so doing, students learn intercultural understanding and, in most cases the capacity to be multilingual. We are proud of our students and their commitment to their own education and learning. They work, play, and grow in their understanding of the world of possibilities.

We are also proud to celebrate our diversity, innovation and continuous growth. We are fortunate to have a community of caring parents that support our school and their children. This community is multicultural, multinational and multilingual.

XCL World Academy was selected to embody and preserve the unique identity of the school, shaped since its foundation, whilst introducing XCL Education as a partner for the future. XCL is a gramogram of the word excel, derived from the latin word ‘celsus’ which means to rise and surpass. The words ‘World Academy’, reflect the mission and values of the school, highlighting the diverse and multicultural constitution of the community, as well as the global perspective that we seek to embed in every child’s learning. It is fully aligned with XCL Education’s ethos of preparing our students for global roles in a changing world and the careers of tomorrow.

We believe that high-quality teaching and learning:

  • Equips students to be critical thinkers that appreciate diversity in an increasingly global world.
  • Creates personalised pathways for students to maximize their unique potential.
  • Takes place in a secure, stimulating and engaging environment.

Raising Intercultural Awareness
At XCL World Academy, we believe in raising intercultural awareness by letting students share and celebrate their unique sense of self and their cultural identities. This leads to a greater appreciation of diversity and prepares them for an increasingly global world.

My children like this school very much, and after only one year of studying here, they have got very good results in English. The school is well equipped with a new teaching building this year. The teachers led by Principal Murphy are highly motivated! Teachers are also very patient, take parents' suggestions seriously, and solve problems efficiently. In my opinion, compared with other international schools in Singapore, it gives students more and equal admission opportunities, attaches importance to students' personal art development, and offers special e-sports courses, which are deeply loved by students. It's really a school that I can trust.

My kids are loving it at XCL! The overall vibe in school is very warm and welcoming. My daughter was very shy at Grade 2. Her teacher picked it up quickly and through encouragement, her self confidence grew! She is a confident learner who is not afraid to make mistakes now at Grade 5. Looking forward to their individual growths in XCL with their teachers. Home room Teachers are very supportive and they have good learning support on board too. Overall we feel that the kids feel safe and confident in the school, that’s what is important to us.

As a staff member and also parent (Pre-Kindergarten), I have loved my experience at XWA. My daughter has thrived in Nursery and now PK - she loves school, her friends, her teachers - the environment is warm and nurturing, and I am most impressed with how caring her teachers are - from her homeroom to Chinese teacher to even the art and PE teachers who teach many students across Primary - they all know who she is and are able to give me feedback. I've also enjoyed working with the Secondary Year students here - similar to other international schools, the students are from all over the world and given the smaller community-feel, the students really look out for each other.

My daughter moved to XCL World Academy last year. She was apprehensive at first leaving her friends. That is why I am grateful for the warm welcome the school gave her! She is now settled with a wonderful group of friends. The school is mid-sized, so the community feel is great! Very convenient to commute from where we are staying, and it is easy to access the MRT and bus interchange in Yishun.

Great looking campus. The indoor area is even more impressive but I cannot post to protect students' privacy. Should be the newest international school in Singapore. Friendly staff, both local and expat. Huge auditorium for competition and performances

GEMS World Academy, located at Yishun has one of the best, most modern and top notch facilities for students from kindergarten level to grade 12. Most impressive for me is another milestone the school achieved when they put up an awesome Musical in less than 3 months! The Wizard of Oz staged by primary years to senior year students! The students commitment to the gruelling schedule of schooling and practises, rehearsals and IGCSE exams for a few students right on exam times just speaks volume of the teachers, the students and the parents commitment and dedication to the fact that "life isnt all about academics and exams"! And, both my daughters, though their acting roles are small, but you have turned up at every practise and rehearsals make me so proud of your attitude toward teamwork, commitment, hardwork and dedication. I cannot wait for the last night show tonight! Bravo, particularly, Ms Mandie Manson (Musical Director), Mrs Amy Fenton (Asst Musical Director) and all the teachers, school leaders and students of Gems World Academy, Singapore!
